My Inspired Free Write (unedited)  The Price of Freedom

Copy write November/16/2011 Jennifer Gerlach

"How could he do this?" Sylvia fell to her knees the fabric of the dress splashing around her with a whoosh as her petti coats released the air trapped benith them. A strong hand landed upon her shoulder to offer a only moments comfort before it edged away.  The foot steps of the messenger crushed stones beneath his large polished boots as he sauntered down the pressed earth path back to his old round horse.  Sylvia was now completely alone.

She picked herself up still sobbing, entered her empty lifeless home.  Overwhelmed by loss and dread she pressed the freshly finished shirt she had put so many loving stitches into. Her tears returned full force.  All alone a young widow her husbands baby growing with in her.  Left destitute all for the freedom of the new world.

Weeks maybe months had passed by Sylvia. She was close to her time, running out of food, and even wood for her hearth.  Sylvia was left with no choice but, to leave behind with what little her husband had left her with.  She packed a change of dress and a gown for her unborn baby, stuffing every peace of pewter she owned into the very same worn carpet bag she had brought with her for the long voyage here. She knew that this would not last her long.  She must find employment for their was no way to survive with an empty purse.  With a sigh she closed the door behind her.

*You have no idea how hard it was to type this off of my hand written copy with no edits beyond spell check.  I have so many ideas of things to change and how to expand this into a short story of the American Revolution.
